Is there demand for bartending jobs today?

Yes. The demand for bartending jobs actually increases in a slowing economy. No matter how bad the economy is doing, people are always going to want to go out and eat, drink, and have a good time. This is good news for graduating students because there will always be ample job opportunities.

How much do bartenders earn?

You can earn up to $20-$30 per hour, and earn an average yearly salary around $50,000. If you want to make extra money, you can work days, nights or weekends and/or as your second job. This job allows for great flexibility to cater to your individual needs.

What is the age minimum to be a bartender?

The minimum age to bartend varies from state to state (and Canada), however, most schools allow you to enroll at the age of 18 because that is the youngest age you can teach in the US. The following are the age requirements for the US and Canada:

Do I need a license to bartend?

No, however in some cities you may need to complete an alcohol awareness test. This awareness test will be administered as part of your bartending training.

Do I need to be certified for employment as a bartender?

Upon graduation from a 1-800-Bartend affiliated school, your diploma from your bartending school is your certification that you have been fully trained and tested in every phase of bartending. Nothing else is required for you to begin bartending immediately.

When do classes start?

Classes are offered year-round and the next one is starting soon. Many schools have flexible hours including daytime, nighttime, and weekend only classes. Call1-800-Bartend and your local bartending school will provide you with the additional details.

What if I have a scheduling conflict with the class hours?

That’s okay! Most schools will work out a special schedule that will fit your needs and time constraints. Contact your local school by calling 1-800-Bartend and inquire about a schedule.

Will I be trained in everything I need to know about bartending?

Yes. Upon graduation you will possess all the skills and training required to be a professional bartender, including knowledge of the trendiest drinks, interviewing techniques and conversational skills. Your diploma certifies that you have been trained and tested in all aspects of bartending—you are ready to begin applying for your job now.

What if I have absolutely no knowledge or previous experience?

No problem. Most of our students register with little to no knowledge of what it takes to be a bartender, yet almost all of the students graduate the first time around. Our competent instructors will provide you with the learning experience & training to make you an expert on every aspect of bartending.

How do I know I’m going to get a job after graduating from the program?

After graduation, the 1-800-Bartend school job placement programs will assist you in finding a job locally or nationwide. Although there’s no guarantee that you’ll find a job immediately, we would not be in business if it weren’t for our networking relationships that have formed over the years.
